Roman Roy, also known as Kieran Culkin, won Best Actor in a Drama in a category crowded with Succession stars. It was his first win and fifth Golden Globe nomination.
Culkin burped and talked about having indigestion after his name was called and he immediately exclaimed that it was a “nightmare” and that everyone was standing up and applauding for him.
He apologized, “Sorry, burping, indigestion.” I was under no need to say that. Other than that, I’m enjoying this time. I was—[laughing] You were right, Jazz, I’ve blown it already. Just say thanks, she said, and walk out. You were accurate. (He is speaking of Jazz Charton, his wife.)
“I was nominated for a Golden Globe like 20 years ago,” Culkin continues. And after that brief moment, I vaguely recall thinking, “I’m never going to be in this room again,” which was okay.
